Zum ersten Mal habe ich den Wickelfisch (http://www.tiloahmels.ch/wickelfisch.php) in Basel gesehen, wo er als Tasche benutzt wird, wenn die Menschen gemeinsam mit der Strömung den Rhein hinunter schwimmen. Ich hatte Glück und ein freundlicher Schweizer, der im Museum Tinguely arbeitete (einen Besuch wert!) verkaufte mir seinen Wickelfisch, denn der Wickelfisch war in allen Geschäften ausverkauft. Die Altstadt von Basel vom Rhein aus zu besichtigen war ein super Erlebnis!

La première fois que j’ai vu le poisson qui flotte (http://www.tiloahmels.ch/wickelfisch.php) c’était à Bâle où les gens l’utilise comme un sac pour transporter leurs affaires en nageant dans la rivière Rhine avec le courent. J’étais heureuse parce qu’ un mec gentil qui travaillait au musée Tinguely (je recommande une visite!) m’a vendu le sien car tous les magasins n’en avaient plus. Visiter la vieille cité de Bale en nageant dans le fleuve était une expérience merveilleuse.

The first time I saw a swim fish (http://www.tiloahmels.ch/wickelfisch.php) was in Basel where people use them as a bag for their stuff when they swim down the river Rhine together with the current. I was lucky that a friendly Swiss guy who worked in the museum Tinguely (worth a visit!) sold me his personal one because all the stores were out of stock. Visiting the old city of Basel by swimming down the river was a really great experience!

Letzen Sonntag nach einer tollen Stunde Power Yoga mit meiner Lieblingslehrerin Cèline (http://yoginmarseille.blogspot.de/) haben wir den Wickelfisch in Marseille getauft und sind mit ihm zu den Inseln d’Endoume geschwommen. Das hat einen Riesen Spaß gemacht und es ist sehr praktisch dass man seine Sachen einfach mitnehmen kann. Das nächste Mal werde ich ein Buch und ein kleines Picknick mitnehmen. Obwohl es ordentlich Wellengang gab und ich den Wickelfisch auch einige Male unter Wasser getaucht habe, ist drinnen alles trocken geblieben. Man kann sich den Wickelfisch beim Schwimmen mit einem Gurt umschnallen oder ihn als Boje benutzen. Glückliche Sommertage….

Ce dimanche après une super session de power yoga à cote de la mer avec Céline (http://yoginmarseille.blogspot.de/), ma prof de yoga favorite on a baptisé le poisson qui flotte à Marseille en nageant avec lui vers les Iles d’Endoume. Cela me fait plaisir et c’est assez pratique car on peut prendre tous ses affaires avec soi. La prochaine fois j’amènerai un livre et un pique-nique. Il y a eu des vagues et j’ai poussé le poisson qui flotte sous l’eau et tout est resté sec à l’intérieur. Vous pouvez accrocher le poisson qui flotte à votre corps en nageant et vous pouvez l’utiliser comme bouée. Heureux jours d’été…

Last Sunday after a great session of power yoga by the sea with my favourite yoga teacher Céline (http://yoginmarseille.blogspot.de/) we baptised my swim fish in Marseille and swam with him to the Iles d’Endoume. It was so much fun and it is so practical if you can take your things with you. Next time I will definitely bring a book and a picnic. Even though there were some waves and I also pushed the swim fish under water a few times everything inside stayed dry. You can strap the swim fish around your body when you swim or you use it as a buoy. Happy summer days…

SUMMER DRINKS or How to blend in in the South of France

Wer elegant ein erfrischendes nicht alkoholisches Getränk bestellen möchte, und dabei so tun möchte als ob er aus der Gegend sei oder zumindest vertraut mit den lokalen Gepflogenheiten, der bestellt am Besten ein `”Pac à l’eau”. Das ist ein natürlicher Zitronensirup gemischt mit eiskaltem Wasser. Pac ist nicht zu sauer, nicht zu süß und unglaublich erfrischend. Der Sirup wird in Chateauneuf-du-Pape im Herzen der Provence produziert und in Cafés und Bars von Nizza bis Perpignan getrunken.

Si vous voulez commander d’une manière élégante une boisson rafraîchissante sans alcool et faire semblant d’être de la région ou au moins rompu aux usages locaux commandez un Pac à l’eau. C’est un sirop de citron naturel mélangé avec de l’eau fraîche. Ce n’est ni trop acide, ni trop sucré et rafraîchissant au possible. Le sirop est produit à Chateauneuf-du-Pape au cœur de la Provence et il est consommé dans les cafés et bars de Nice à Perpignan.

If you want to elegantly order a refreshing non-alcoholic drink whilst pretending to be local or at least familiar with local customs order a “Pac à l’eau”. It is a natural lemon syrup mixed with ice cold water. Pac is not too sour, not too sweet and heavenly refreshing. The syrup is produced in Chateauneuf-du-Pape in the heart of the Provence and consumed in cafés and bars from Nice to Perpignan.

Als ich dieses Bild gemacht habe, kannte ich Pac à l’eau noch nicht und habe einen “Perrier Menthe” (auch “Diabolo Menthe” genannt) bestellt. Unschwer zu erraten, “Perrier Menthe” ist ein Minz Sirup gemischt mit Wasser (diesmal Sprudelwasser) und das Getränk ist auch sehr erfrischend. Ich trinke es sehr gern bin aber zu Pac à l’eau konvertiert.

Quand j’ai pris la photo je ne connaissais pas le Pac à l’eau et j’ai commandé un Perrier Menthe. Vous l’avez deviné, c’est un sirop de menthe mélangé avec de l’eau (de l’eau gazeuse) et c’est aussi très rafraîchissant. Je l’aime aussi mais je suis convertie au Pac.

When taking this picture I did not know about pac à l’eau and ordered a “Perrier Menthe” (also known as “Diabolo Menthe”). You might have guessed it, Perrier Menthe is made of menthe syrup mixed with water (this time sparkling water) and it is also refreshing. I like it too but I converted to Pac à l’eau.

J’aime bien la campagne de publicité d’Intermarché sur les “Fruits et Légumes Moches”.

Ich finde die Werbekampagne von Intermarché “Häßliches Obst und Gemüse” super.

Ich liebe die unmotivierte Karotte.

Die errötete Tomate ist ein wenig traurig, dass sie es nicht in die Kampagne geschafft hat. Sie erwägt jetzt eine Nasenkorrektur.

Par contre la tomate rougie est un peu triste parce qu’elle n’a pas été choisie pour la campagne…Elle est en train de réfléchir à une éventuelle rhinoplastie.

The blushed tomato is a little bit sad that she did not make it into the campaign. She is now considering a nose job.

Aber vielleicht kann ihr das der abgewiesene Apfel noch ausreden.

Mais peut-être la pomme rejetée pourra l’en dissuader.

Jedes Mal wenn ich in Marseille die Corniche entlangfahre und am Vallon des Auffes vorbeikomme MUSS ich kurz anhalten und mir das lebendige Durcheinander von kleinen Motorbooten, schnuckeligen Häuschen, Restaurants und Hochhäusern anschauen.

Chaque fois que je roule sur la Corniche de Marseille et que je passe par le Vallon des Auffes, je DOIS faire une petite pause et observer le chaos charmant des petits canots, des maisonnettes, des restaurants et des gratte-ciel.

Every time I am driving along the Corniche in Marseille and pass by the Vallon des Auffes I HAVE to take a minute to observe the charming clutter of little motorboats, cute little houses, restaurants and high rises.

Wenn ich mich frage wie wohl der Bebauungsplan dieses städtebaulichen Durcheinanders aussieht muss ich schmunzeln. Man könnte meinen er hat erfolgreich sein Ziel, einer geordneten städtebaulichen Entwicklung verfehlt…

Quand je pense au chaos de plan d’urbanisme cela me fait sourire. On pourrait dire que ce plan a manqué son but de développement urbain bien ordonné avec succès…

Thinking of how the land development plan of this urban chaos looks like always makes me smile. One might very well think that the plan has successfully missed its goal of achieving an orderly development of settlements but I couldn’t possibly comment…

Vor kurzem habe ich Marrokanische Schwarze Seife entdeckt und ich bin total begeistert! Die Seife wird aus schwarzen Oliven und Oliven- oder Leinsamenöl hergestellt und ist 100 % biologisch abbaubar. Man findet sie in Bioläden oder auf arabischen und afrikanischen Märkten.

Ca fait pas longtemps que j’ai découvert le savon noir du Maroc et j’en suis férue. Le savon est produit par des olives noires et de l’huile d’olive ou de lin. Le savon noir est 100% biodégradable. Vous le trouverez dans les magasins bio ou des marchés arabes et africains.

I recently discovered Moroccan Black Soap and am absolutely thrilled! It is made from black olives and olive or linseed oil and it is 100% biodegradable. You can buy it in health stores or Arabic and African Markets.

Marokkanische schwarze Seife wird auch im marokkanischen Hammam verwendet das sie sich sehr gut als Peeling eignet.

Le savon noir du Maroc est aussi utilisé au Hammam car il est très exfoliant.

Moroccan Black Soap is also used in the Moroccan Hammam because it is highly exfoliating.

Im Haushalt kann man damit nahezu alle Oberflächen reinigen. Die Seife sieht milchig aus, wenn sie in lauwarmem Wasser aufgelöst wird. Ich benutze die unaufgelöste Paste zum reinigen und pflegen von Leder Schuhen, Jacken oder Taschen und ich benutze die Seife um Flecken vorzubehandeln before ich das Kleidungsstück in die Waschmaschine gebe.

À la maison vous pouvez utiliser le savon noir pour nettoyer presque toutes les surfaces. Cela se présente d’une couleur de lait si vous le dissolvez dans de l’eau tiède. J’utilise la pâte du savon noir aussi pour nettoyer et cirer les chaussures en cuir, les vestes et les sacs et je l’utilise aussi comme traitement préalable avant de mettre les vêtements dans la machine à laver.

At home you can use it to clean nearly all surfaces. It will look milky when you dissolve it in lukewarm water. I also use the pure paste to clean and maintain leather shoes, jackets and handbags and I am using it to treat stains before I put the fabric into the washing machine.

The beach “Chez Dédè” attracts quite a crowd during the day.

Am Abend hat man ihn manchmal ganz für sich allein.

Le soir on peut quelquefois se retrouver tout seul.

In the evening you can sometimes enjoy the beach all by yourself.

Ist diese Latzhose nicht eine süße und bequeme Sommer Short? Ich glaube ich habe 15 Jahre auf das Comeback der Latzhose gewartet. Die Latzhose auf dem Photo ist von Comptoir de Cotonniers.

Cette salopette n’est elle pas joli et confortable pour cette été? Je crois que j’ai attendu 15 ans pour voir la salopette revenir à la mode. Celle-ci vient du Comptoir de Cotonniers.

Wouldn’t these dungarees make very cute and comfy summer shorts? I think I was waiting 15 years for the dungarees to have their comeback. The above ones are from Comptoir de Cotonniers.

In Südfrankreich (wie in allen Mittelmeerländern) kommunizieren die Menschen gern mit Hilfe von Gesten. Manche dieser Gesten sind selbsterklärend und einfach zu verstehen. Bei anderen ist das schwieriger. Was will uns zum Beispiel Monsieur Jsuicho sagen?

Dans le Sud de la France (comme dans tous les pays Méditerranéens) les gens aiment bien communiquer par des gestes. Lesquels parfois n’ont pas besoin d’explications et sont faciles à comprendre. D’autres sont plus difficiles. Est-que vous savez ce que Monsieur Jsuicho essaye de dire?

The people of the South of France (as in all Mediterranean countries) like to communicate with a lot of gestures. Some of them are self explicable and easy to understand. Others not so much. Do you know what Monsieur Jsuicho wants to say?

Er denkt wahrscheinlich “c’est du pipeau”. Das heißt soviel wie:

Das ist Quatsch.
So ein Blödsinn.
Das ist total übertrieben.

Vraisemblablement il pense “c’est du pipeau”.Ca veut dire:

C’est des conneries.
C’est n’importe quoi.
C’est exagéré.

He is probably thinking “c’est du pipeau”. This means something along:

That’s rubbish.
That’s nonsense.
That’s a fake.

La Piccoline – delicious home-cooked French food

Wer Lust auf leckere, französische Hausmannskost zum Mittagessen hat, is im Restaurant “La Piccoline” richtig. Dort hat man die Auswahl zwischen 2 bis 3 Vorspeisen, 3 bis 4 Hauptgerichten und Nachtischen und die Karte wechselt täglich.

Si vous avez envie d’un déjeuner français délicieux, fait maison “La Piccoline” (59 Rue des Trois Frères Barthélémy) est votre adresse. Vous avez le choix entre 2 ou 3 entrées, 3 à 4 plats et desserts. De plus la carte change chaque jour.

If you fancy a delicious home-cooked French lunch “La Piccoline” (59 Rue des Trois Frères Barthélémy) is the place to go. You can choose between 2 to 3 starters, 3 to 4 main dishes and deserts and the menu changes daily.

Das Restaurant liegt in einer ruhigen Strasse, nur wenige Schritte von den belebten Plätzen “Cours Julien” und “La Plaine” entfernt. Man kann draußen sitzen, entspannen, die Aussicht genießen und ein wenig in die Gespräche um einen herum hereinhorchen. Als ich da war, sprach nahezu jeder über die kleine Siesta die nach dem Mittagessen geplant war.

Le restaurant est situé dans une rue calme à quelques minutes à pieds des endroits animés “Le Cours Julien” et “La Plaine”. Vous pouvez vous installer en terrasse, vous détendre et profiter de la vue ou prêter une oreille aux conversations autour de vous. J’ai pu entendre là-bas presque tout le monde parler de la petite sieste suivant le déjeuner.

The restaurant is situated in a calm street only a few footsteps away from the busy squares “Cours Julien” and “La Plaine”. You can sit outside, relax, enjoy the view, and eavesdrop a little on the conversations around you. When I was there pretty much everybody was talking about the little siesta they were planning to take afterwards.
